The 1 thing I would add to this list is that when opening a mail it should be opened as a tab within your mailbox. Yahoo do this and it's a great feature - so useful. With my Gmail (which I use the most & love) I oftnen have to open the emial I'm writing into a new window to allow me to go and check other messages from my inbox. Tabs would solve this inconvenience.

Thanks for the tips! ;)

You should do an update now, there is many new cool add-ons, like the in browser email counter, tells you when you have got an email instantly right in you browser, i use it with Chrome, but i don't know if it exists for Firefox. (:

7. Push Button Backup Capability... I once was using IMAP to backup all my email to Thunderbird, then they came out with Offline GMail Lab feature. Now all my emails are stored locally and I can even use the GMail interface. It even downloads attachments, so if I have no internet connection, I can still view, search, and respond to email.

Hey Gil, great article!

I love my GMAIL, it's by far the best email provider I've ever used.

Although I think it’s the best, like with most things, there is always some tweaking that can be done to make something even better and make it more 'perfect'.

One thing I'd like to see improve in my gmail (besides your already 10) is the spell checker-- wish it was more like Microsoft Word. Right now, it's very basic and doesn't pick up on things like, words that begin a sentence that should be capitalized, mistakes with grammar, fragments etc. I would really love to see this improvement; it would definitely make my gmail experience a better one :)

Number 9 would be such a convenience, I'd skip that whole printing to PDF process.

I can only hope that Google's push towards the exchange market will prompt them to include the 10 features mentioned above along with others.
