Microsoft’s 150 Free Programs

I ran into this excellent post by Road to Know Where that lists all of Microsoft’s free software on one page. 150 Free Programs! Below I’ll list some of my favorites from the post. If you need any help with any of these please let me know.

Note: Some of the programs require that you have a valid Windows installation.

Set up a great computer system for your business with exchange 2007. Share all of your company files and documents with email hosting. Exchange hosting and exchange server hosting can take your business to the next level.  A popular form of exchange hosting is outlook exchange which allows you to share and send files.  Read here what coldfusion hosting is and how it can speed up business email systems.

Premium Time Zone: Very neat time zone program.

TweakUI: One of my all time favorite Microsoft Utilities.

Webcam Timershot: Lets you take pictures at specified time intervals from a Webcam connected to your computer and save them to a location that you designate.

SyncToy: helps copy, move, and synchronize files with digital cameras, e-mail, cell phones, portable media players, camcorders, PDAs, and laptops. I reviewed it here.

Bootvis: Microsoft states this tool is no longer available, but they still “support it”. Bootvis “was” a performance tracing and visualization tool designed to help identify performance issues for boot/resume timing while developing new PC products or supporting software. I reviewed it here with a how-to use it.

Note: I discourage users from using keywords in their names when posting comments, most of those are caught as spam and end up being deleted. It would be more productive and interactive if commentators use the name they go by rather than using an unrelated name. In the future I reserve the right to delete comments from users using a name other than their own.
