Are More AT&T iPhone Subscribers Defecting to Verizon Than Expected?

I pose this question because over the last week I’ve received two separate emails from AT&T reminding me why their service is the best and why I should remain with them as a loyal subscriber. The last email felt like more of a stab at Verizon whose network can’t handle data and voice communications at the same time, here’s the screenshot of the message so you can judge yourself.

“Only AT&T’s network lets you talk and surf the web at the same time on your iPhone.”

Translation: If you switch to a Verizon iPhone, you will not be able to talk and surf at the same time, oh, and here’s 25% off an iPhone accessory to help make your stay more worthwhile.

So the question is simple, was this a coincidence considering that pre-orders start this week or are their marketing people predicting a mass iPhone exodus to Verizon? Notice that they included a little “token” of appreciation to keep you locked to your AT&T iPhone. A 25% off any accessory code which exludes MobileMe and Apple Care, of course. By the way, feel free to use the coupon code if you’d like.

What do you think? Will you be switching to Verizon’s iPhone?
