How to Disable Performance Counters

by

flashtuticon How to Disable Performance Counters Windows 2000 and Windows XP have a built-in performance monitor that essentially monitors your computer’s performance. This feature is something that is hardly used by most users and therefore remains in the background using valuable system resources. If you’re looking to improve your systems performance, follow the steps below to disable this feature.

1. Download and install Extensible Performance Counter List from Microsoft’s website.

2. Run the program which resides in ‘C:Program FilesResource Kitexctrlst.exe’

3. Clear the Performance Counter Enable Checkbox for each counter listed.
