Do We Need Another eBook Store? Google Launches eBookstore

Amazon and Barnes  & Noble better watch their back, the search giant is after eBooks in a big way, 3 million titles to be exact. Google just announced their foray into the lucrative eBook business with the launch of Google Books and two eBook reader apps for Android and iOS devices. Google promises to offer a Nook and Amazon-like experience where customers can purchase and read eBooks across different platforms.

The question is, do we need another eBook marketplace? We already have Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble’s Nook, not to mention Apple’s eBook store and countless other stores. Can somebody come up with a way to transfer purchases across stores. Not only do I want my eBooks to be platform agnostic, I’d like them to be store agnostic. What do you think?
