Download Any Music, Videos, and Other Content with AudialsOne

Audials One Review

As the amount of content online continues to grow, the number of tools promising access to that content has increased. There are a large number of applications that will allow you to download songs, others allow you to download videos, and others allow you to subscribe to Podcasts. Rapid Solutions’ AudialsOne software was designed to do it all, with a push of a button you will have access to download hundreds upon thousands of songs, videos, podcasts, and other content from websites.

It’s not just access that will have, but also the ability to download those files to your computer so that you don’t have to be online in order to enjoy your favorite YouTube video or the latest song playing on the radio. AudialsOne also has the ability to bypass DRM protection on certain media files so that you are free to do what you wish with the music or videos you own.

What exactly does AudialsOne do and how does it work?

AudialsOne is an all-in-one suite that allows you to do the following;

  • Music Search – AudialsOne allows you to enter a search query and will scour the web (over 30,000 radio stations) for the song you are looking for and allow you to download it to your computer.
  • Movies and Videos – This software allows you to capture streaming video so that you can save it to your computer for your viewing while offline. This includes video videos from YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, and other video sharing websites.
  • Universal Converter – Now that you have access to all these videos and music, where can you view them? AudialsOne allows you to convert those video and music files to the almost any format imaginable, iPod, Cell phone, and other portable devices. The software even allows you to convert songs to ringtones.
  • DRM Protection – The universal converter included with AudialsOne allows you to bypass most if not all DRM protection so that you can do what you wish with the content you own.

AudialsOne scours the web for the query you submit, it then downloads the content you specify to your computer while encoding it and removing any protection it may contain.

What I think about AudialsOne

I’ve been using the full version of AudialsOne for a little over a month and I must admit that it is quite and impressive piece of software, it is the swiss army knife of media downloads software. It downloads, saves, encodes, sorts, and searches for all things media – all in one application. As with all software there are some things that you will absolutely love while there are others you will dislike.

Below I will highlight some of the things that I like and dislike about AudialsOne.

Things I Like

Audials One Review

All-in-one Solution – You only need one piece of software. It is an all-in-one solution for the searching, downloading, and storage of digital media on the web.

Built-in Converter – This is one of my favorite features. The ability to convert movies to a format my iPhone can play is essential for me as I am sure it is for anyone with a portable media device. Another feature I like from the converter is the ability to create ringtones from songs, usually you would have to buy this as a separate piece of software.

Extremely Versatile and Configurable – Aside from the versatility afforded by all of the features included, this software comes packed with configuration options that provide users with a slew of options when encoding any media type. Just look at the amount of options you have when converting media files (see screenshot above).

Great Price – Considering the amount of features the software sports and its capabilities, I’d say that for the money you’re probably getting the best deal out there. The software runs for $59.90 discounted.

Things I Dislike

Memory hog – I have about 4GB of RAM and a decent machine so I didn’t notice any lag, but I took a look at the resource manager in Windows VIsta and noticed that AudialsOne uses a whopping 180 MB of RAM while its running. I decided to test if it used up more memory if I ran it for a while and I noticed that the memory increased used increased each time I performed a different operation. If you’re using Vista then you need to have more than 1GB RAM installed to use this program otherwise you will run into some performance issues.

I was only running SnagIt and AudialsOne on Windows Vista Ultimate 64Bit when I took this screenshot.

GUI is too crowded – One of the things that really struck me the first time I used this software was the amount stuff that was happening in one screen. Not only does it feel like there are zillions of buttons, but the design of the interface, the colors, etc. really make the software interface extremely cluttered. It will take a couple of uses to get the hang of the software and where things are and most importantly, how to use it.

Unresolved Windows 7 Error (see forum post) – It appears that there is an issue with Windows 7 and AudialsOne surrounding audio drivers, it appears that there are a lot of folks who are having this issue because the number of views on this forum post exceed 1,000. It doesn’t look like RapidSolution has addressed this. I emailed them about this when I published the review and will update as soon as I receive word from them.

Can Your Computer Handle AudialsOne?

In order to run AudialsOne your computer needs to meet the following specifications;

  • Windows 7/Vista/XP (32 and 64 bit) operating system
  • 1GHz Processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 1GB hard drive space
  • DSL/ Cable/ 3G – anything slower will slow down any downloads you initiate.
  • Minimum screen resolution of 1,024X600 pixels

Conclusion

This is by far the most complete video/music/radio download and conversion application that I have seen, with this application there is no need to install 10 different applications. The price might be on the high range for some, but when we look at what the program can do in terms of the access to music and videos, price should not be an issue, think of the convenience it creates by being able to download videos from YouTube.

As I stated in the review I’m not too keen on the cluttered interface and confusing layout, however if you take the time to view the tutorials on the RapidSolution website you will be up and running in no time. With that said, I think it is a pretty good investment for anyone who is interested in downloading, cataloging, and converting music and videos from the internet. Best thing is that you can try the free version (see below) and if you like it, then you can purchase it. It’s hard to beat that offer.
