office-2010-announcement

Today marks a milestone in the evolution of Microsoft’s Office Suite. Microsoft announced the release of Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 to business customers worldwide. The new version of Office sports a new look, the capability to edit documents online, and collaboration tools that will spawn a new era for Microsoft and its business partners.

I’ve been using Office 2010 since beta and can stand by the fact that it is faster, more responsive, easier to use, and more robust than any other version of Office I used before. I think that the inclusion of Office Web Apps will negatively impact the growth of competitors products like Google Docs and Zoho’s productivity apps.

“Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 define the future of productivity,” said Stephen Elop, president, Microsoft Business Division. “With the 2010 set of products, organizations will save, innovate and grow as their people benefit from working across the PC, phone and browser.”
