Most of the time they’ve been done by trial and error, but now with the Internet it’s becoming easier to learn how to do projects on your own, Videos on YouTube account for a large amount of DIY projects, which has made it easier for people to understand how to do these tasks themselves that they haven’t been able to do before.

How about getting your own political view, right from Congress members about certain topics? You now can with YouTube Town Hall, a place where two representatives go head to head about various topics. Video pages include two representatives, with their name, but not their party. After watching both videos you’ll be shown which party the members are from, which is not always what you think.

Topics include budget, energy, economy, education, Afghanistan and healthcare. New questions will be posted in the future, but if you want to get in on the debate, you can even ask your own question for members of Congress to answer.

You can also see the top videos as voted by you, the people on the YouTube Town Hall Leaderboard. The leaderboard includes the top 5 supported videos. Additionally you can view all of the videos and sort them by issue, party, type of Congress, and state.

YouTube, the personal video giant is now expanding its array from free videos, to free independent films and now to paid movie rentals. You can now watch the latest movies right from your computer at YouTube Movies. Categories include New Releases, Collections, Free Movies, Action & Adventure, Animation & Cartoons, Classics, Comedy, Crime, Documentary & Biography, Drama, Family, Foreign Film, Horror, Indian Cinema, Mystery & Suspense, Romance, and Science Fiction. Prices range from Free up to $3.99 per movie rental. Rentals typically include a 24 hour pass for the base price and you will have 30 days to watch your video after purchasing the rental.

The pricing might not be as good as some of its competitors like Amazon Video or Netflix, but it certainly makes a statement for YouTube by offering paid and free videos to users around the world. The pricing seems to match more of On Demand services, like from your local TV provider, rather than other compatible online services or monthly rental programs. If YouTube Movies becomes more adopted, hopefully we’ll start to see a drop in prices, since $4.00 to rent a movie no-a-days seems outrageous.

The most anticipated wedding of the century, the Royal Wedding, is going to be here in only a week, but if you’re not one of the millions to be there for this event, then you don’t have to feel left out. The Royal Household has announced that everyone will now be able to watch the wedding, straight from their home computers. The Royal Wedding will be broadcasted on their official YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/theroyalchannel with live coverage starting at 10:00AM BST on Friday, April 29, 2011; that’s 5:00AM EST for us East Coast Americans or 2:00AM for Californians.

The first royal wedding was televised over 50 years ago and brought in nearly 20 million viewers. I think it’s safe to say that there are going to be more than that many worldwide viewers for the Internet Age’s first Royal Wedding. Not only will it be broadcasted worldwide via some television stations, but it will also be available to everyone on the Internet.

If you’re not one to get up that early to watch the Royal Wedding procession, then you can watch the repeats that will begin right after the Royal Wedding on the Royal YouTube Channel.

A few weeks ago, Google announced to Google Video users that they would no longer be hosting nor having playback for videos on their platform. Instead, they gave users the option to download their videos before they wouldn’t be accessible anymore. Many people were angry about this and voiced their concerns with Google. Google has heard the voices and decided to remove the deadline and will now be automatically moving Google Videos over to YouTube.

If you don’t want to wait for Google to migrate your videos over you can either download them yourself to just keep it for your records, or you can manually migrate the video from Google Videos to YouTube. To do this, you have to navigate to the Google Video status page, select the videos you want to upload, and then hit the “Upload Videos to YouTube” button.

Google Video was never as large as YouTube nor could it have ever gotten to the level that YouTube has achieved. It isn’t a surprise that Google now wants to end its service, but I’m surprised they didn’t think to migrate all of the videos over beforehand.

YouTube has been known for finding videos that have been posted in the past. It’s a great resource for finding older videos, but it’s just not quite like live TV. YouTube is out to change their “in the past” mentality to current, live broadcasting. While they’ve had a couple of live events in the past, they’ve been on a case-by-case basis. YouTube is out to change this by adding constant live streams available on the new YouTube Live channel, http://www.youtube.com/live.

Now you can always find live television streaming on YouTube and see what’s coming up in the future. Right now you can find the Indian Premier League Cricket from the India Times or you can watch the Impact of the Food Industry on Global Health later today at 5:30PM PDT. This new live platform gives certain partners of YouTube the ability to have live streams, so expect to see more live streams soon.

It’s about time YouTube caught up with the streaming world, since they aren’t the first to offer a service like this. There are plenty of other streaming websites out there and I’m really surprised it took YouTube this long to offer this new feature.

Anyone that’s used a computer knows about YouTube and its broad selection of user-uploaded videos. Everyone wants to participate in the action, but for some, that’s not always possible. Not everyone has a video camera or even a webcam to record video to post on YouTube. However, YouTube has teamed up with some video create sites like Stupeflix and GoAnimate to help YouTube users to create animated video and have them directly uploaded onto YouTube. Just simply navigate to http://www.youtube.com/create to start creating your own personalized videos with photos, text and other free resources.

Once you navigate to the YouTube create page you can select from three video creation services. Stupeflix Video Maker allows you to mix pictures, videos and other content into three different video styles: outline, top 10, or celebrate. GoAnimate allows you to create animated videos quickly and easily, check out the sample video below:

The final video create service integrated into YouTube is the Xtranormal Movie Maker which also allows you to make animated videos, allowing you to select from sets, actors, sounds and stories.

Right now YouTube only has three video creation services available on the Create page, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they add more in the future if this new service becomes well used by YouTube users.

Did you know that you can share your movies using QuickTime Player with a click of a button? If you didn’t know this you may want to check out the guide below that will show you how to share your videos to MobileMe Gallery, YouTube and iTunes in QuickTime Player.

Software/Hardware used: QuickTime Player 10 running on Mac OS 10.6.

1. Open the movie you wish to share in QuickTime Player and click the Share icon. You will have three platforms available to share your movies: iTunes, MobileMe Gallery, and YouTube.

Publish Movie to MobileMe Gallery

When you publish your movie to MobileMe Gallery only you and those you have granted access to your Gallery will be able to view and download the video you upload.

If you are a YouTube fan, and downloading videos, converting video files, downloading mP3 music files etc is your favorite past time, then the aTube Catcher really deserves to be on your list of must-have applications.

I came across this software a few years back, while frantically searching for a good application or website that could easily download and convert YouTube videos. I must say, I spent a lot of time experimenting with all sorts of websites just to end up being disappointed. Not to mention, I downloaded and installed several applications that claimed to be the ultimate solution for all video downloading needs, but only if you purchased it. I was looking to save money so I kept searching for free software, until I ran into aTube Catcher. Ever since then I needed no other media software. The software has gained popularity over the last few years and it’s functionality as well as interface has changed remarkably. The latest version, 2.2.527 provides you with a one stop solution for all your video and digital content needs. And what’s best thing is that the application is free! Here’s a list of what this great application can do for you.

Downloads and Converts Almost Any Video

To download as well as convert videos from any video hosting portal, all you need to do is copy the video URL and paste it in the URL space given in the software. The older versions simply allowed you to convert the media files into a few basic formats such as WMV, WMA, AVI, etc, but this latest version allows you to convert a video file from YouTube, Google Video, DailyMotion, etc into any file format you wish for! Be it MP3 (medium and high quality), 3GP, DVD (PAL and NTSC), XBOX, Zune, MP4, iPOD, iPhone, and the list goes on! With just one simple click, your entire video file is converted into all the major file formats needed for playing on various devices. Imagine downloading your favorite videos and playing them on any device you like!

Search Videos and Music Online

This software also allows you to conduct a video search using YouTube. All you have to do is enter the video name and the search results will appear within the application. You have a list of all video clips (the site takes videos from YouTube) related to that search term. What’s best is you can view, download and convert all at the same time! If you want to search for an MP3 file, no longer do you have to crawl Google. Let aTube do the crawling for you! Enter the song name and you will find hundreds of files listed along with their download destination. You can even listen to the song, before deciding to download it. Isn’t that simply cool?

Burn CD’s and DVD’s

As if the above qualities were not enough, you also have the option of burning those very same converted files (or any other file you want) into a DVD, CD, VCD format for the DVD and CD player! This was not possible before and one had to go to great lengths to download, convert and then burn it for a DVD player compatible format! For anyone who is a media geek, I suggest you start using aTube Catcher and enjoy it’s all in one services!
