How to Decompress, Mount, and Burn UIF Files

If you've ever encountered a download that is formatted as a UIF file there are two things you need to be aware of;

1. Ensure you trust the source of this file. At times people maliciously insert viruses and other files that may damage and compromise your PC's security.

2. In order for you to use these files you have to go through several steps before you can even view the contents.

How to Improve Your Laptop's Battery Life Using Vista

Tamir Khason recently released a neat little application when enabled manages when the Aero effects and the sidebar are activated on your Vista machine. Nick White from Microsoft has admitted to the fact that "...in our testing we've seen that turning on Aero consumes only about 1-4% more of battery life."

The program is designed to disable the Aero interface and sidebar from Vista whenever your laptop is running on battery. The programmer was kind enough to allow the user complete and total control as to when that occurs, the user has options to disable Aero and the sidebar only when the battery reaches a certain threshhold or simply when switched to battery power. The program is very straightforward and easy to use.

How to Delete Files That Refuse to be Deleted

I am almost certain that all of you who use a computer has run into a file that you cannot delete [Cannot delete file: Access is denied, There has been a sharing violation,
The source or destination file may be in use,
The file is in use by another program or user, Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
] Simply put you get the dialog box shown below or similar. This normally happens when there is a process that remains in the background and is still accessing the file you wish to delete. Sometimes you have to restart your computer in order to get rid of the file, other times you can't get rid of the file at all. There is a solution to this problem, Unlocker.

I was searching for more ways to optimize my computers' startup/shutdown time and ran into this popular utility. Once installed it I ran it and rebooted my system, I must admit I did notice a slight speed increase when I booted. Coupled with the other tweaks I have applied to my laptop I no longer waste valuable time waiting for my computer to shut down. The following is the description for CCleaner. You just need to install the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service, which, "...helps to ensure user sessions are completely terminated when a user logs off. View Tutorial Everybody has come across one of the most dreaded situations when using your computer, accidentally deleting files. For many out there, the battle was lost, files can no longer be seen by Windows when deleted from the Recycle Bin, do not loose hope!
