There are so many ways you can download videos from YouTube, I will be using iDesktop.tv, my preferred method of downloading and browsing videos from YouTube. With this tutorial I will show you how to download the YouTube video, save it as .MOV file, and then convert it using iTunes so that your iPod can play it. If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know.
1. Go to iDesktop.tv [this site will let you browse all of the videos available on YouTube but in a simplified manner.]

2. Find the video you would like to download, and click the download link.

How to Help A Good Cause While Using MSN Messenger
Submitted by Gil on May 31, 2007 - 4:24am.
If you're like me, you want to have a positive impact on the people that surround you and the world you live in. Miscrosoft through its Live Messenger service allows each and everyone of us to do just that. Microsoft has commited to share a portion of the ad revenues generated via Windows Live Messenger, so every time you start a conversation and ads are displayed, when any money is generated from those ads, a portion of that money will go to an organization of your choice. At the moment Live Messenger only supports the following organizations;

Google Updates Google Talk With New Features
Submitted by Gil on August 16, 2006 - 8:45pm.Google has released a set of new features for it's Instan Messaging software, Google Talk. Among the new features is the capability to initiate and receive file transfers to/from other users, leave and receive voicemails, and see what your friends are listening to. Read the official blog post from Google.
"Millions of you use Google Talk every day to connect with friends, family, and colleagues via chat and calls. Today we're releasing a new version of Google Talk that introduces several more ways to share and connect. You can download it here.
File transfer - This has consistently been the top requested feature, and we've worked hard to make the experience simple, fast, and fun. You can share any type of file, several at a time if you like. We think the photo sharing experience is especially fun.
Voicemail - The name of this feature doesn't do it justice. Yes, you can now leave voicemails for any of your Google Talk contacts when they don't answer a call, but I think the coolest thing is that you can easily record voice notes and send them to anyone you know by just adding their email address to your contact list -- they don't even have to be running Google Talk. This is a fun and easy way to just say hello, send someone a reminder, or even sing your mom happy birthday! Also, our friends on the Gmail team have added a slick voicemail playback experience within Gmail.
Music status sharing - Show your friends what music you listen to and discover new music that your friends are into (or discover that they spend their entire day listening to Barry Manilow... hmm). We also thought it would be fun for you to see the musical tastes of the broader community. So you now have the option of sharing your music listening history with Google, to be included in the rankings of our new Google Labs project called Music Trends."

Another Way to Download Youtube, Gooogle, and other Videos
Submitted by Gil on August 8, 2006 - 4:45pm.The other day I posted an article on how you can use Keepvid to download your favorite videos from Google, Youtube, and others. Well I found that there is another method which is a lot easier once it is configured. This other method serves up two options, you can use a bookmarklet (A bookmarklet is a small JavaScript program that can be stored as a URL within a bookmark in most popular web browsers, or within hyperlinks on a web page. Because Internet Explorer uses the term favorites instead of bookmarks, bookmarklets are also less commonly called favlets or favelets. Definition via Google). or a Greasemonkey script ("Greasemonkey is a software implementation of a concept called "Active Browsing". It allows users of the Mozilla Firefox web browser to install user scripts which modify specific web pages." Definition via Google ).

Avoid Being Fooled Into Having Your Identity Stolen
Submitted by Gil on July 10, 2006 - 4:49pm.I have received about 3 emails in the past two months claiming to originate from eBay - they normally asked me to logon to my account via a link that they provided on the email. That link led me to a site that looked just like eBay but wasn't - the address bar said login.ebay.com and everything, but it turned out that the adress on the address bar was cloaking the real address which happened to be some random ip address that hosted the fake eBay website. I was almost fooled the first time into logging in, but caught it before I input my information. For all of you that have eBay or Paypal accounts you are the target of these emails claiming to be official. Naturally I went online in search of something that would help me identify sites without having to look through code or anything like that, it turns out there's a plug-in for both Internet Explorer and Firefox that does just that.

How to Use Google Grab to Find Your Favorite Pictures
Submitted by Gil on July 6, 2006 - 5:12am.
I really like Google's Image Search, however when I'm searching for a specific picture I hate having to go through each page trying to find what I'm looking for. Well, I stumbled upon a little porgram - Google Grab developed by SAS21 which allows you to do image searches and download the results to a folder on your hard drive. I started using this tool and must admit that it is amazing! I absolutely love it. You type in a search phrase set the sizes of the files you wish to download and in a couple of seconds you'll have a folder with that search phrase full of pictures. The best part of Google Grab is that it does not require installation (great addition to your memory key's list of programs). Below you will see a little How-to on using this software as well as an example I ran for you to see how effective the program is. As always comments/suggestions are welcome.

Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 Is Now Available
Submitted by Gil on June 29, 2006 - 5:20am.Microsoft just released Internet Explorer Beta 7. I've been using it (Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2) recently and find that it is faster loading than Firefox, however there are a lot of quirks that it lacks; the integrated search box, tabs that can be shifted from one side to other, and other little things that I absolutely love from Firefox. I just downloaded IE7Beta3 this morning so let's see what they've improved. Let's see how well they've listened to us. The download is available at Microsoft's website.
