How to Add Watermarks to Your Word Documents
Submitted by Gil on April 26, 2008 - 1:03pm.The other day I was asked by one of my colleagues if I knew how to add the "DRAFT" watermark in Word documents. I must admit, I did not know, so after a little search using Word's Help content I found that there is an option in Word that enables this feature. Below you will find the instructions on adding Watermarks using both Word 2003 and Word 2007. These instructions can also be used to add logo's, backgrounds, and other items to the "background" of your documents.
If you have any questions or comments let me know.
Word 2003 Instructions
1. With Word open, click on Format > Background > Printed Watermark...

2. A Printed Watermark dialog box will appear. Select Text watermark and then select a phrase/word from the Text drop-down, I chose DRAFT for this example, click OK

Submitted by Gil on March 3, 2008 - 9:41pm.
After reading this great article over at lifehacker I was amazed at the number of programs available to rip/encocode/decode/burn DVD's. I have decided to piggy back off the comments from the lifehacker article and post a list of programs to rip/encode/decode/burn DVD's so that you don't have to hunt for them on the internet. I will try to bunch them accoring to their function (decoder/burner, etc). If you know of any other ripper/burner I did not list, feel free to comment and ill add it to the list.

How to Fix Error 1606 While Installing Adobe Acrobat
Submitted by Gil on February 12, 2008 - 10:02pm.
I was struggling with this issue for quite some time and could not seem to resolve it. I was trying to install Adobe Acrobat Version 6 on my laptop and every time I attempted to install it I received the "Error 1606.Could not access network location..." First off I was not installing over the network, so the first thing that came to mind was a faulty disc. I contacted Adobe support and they sent me over to the Microsoft site stating it was an OS problem. After hours of trying the different "fixes" available I was ready to give up when I found a post by a frustrated Acrobat user in the Adobe forums. I tried his recommendation and it worked! I have posted this quick little guide that will help you bypass all of the supposed "fixes" online and lead you to the one that works.

How to Decompress, Mount, and Burn UIF Files
Submitted by Gil on February 2, 2008 - 1:46pm.![]()
If you've ever encountered a download that is formatted as a UIF file there are two things you need to be aware of;
1. Ensure you trust the source of this file. At times people maliciously insert viruses and other files that may damage and compromise your PC's security.
2. In order for you to use these files you have to go through several steps before you can even view the contents.
The how-to below will list step-by-step what it is that you need to do in order to use these files. If you know of any other way or any other programs that may simplify the process, please let it be known. If you have questions or comments feel free to let me know.
